Thomson Industries, Inc., a leading manufacturer of linear motion control solutions, announced that its plant in Wolfschlugen, Germany has yet again obtained EN ISO 14001:2015 certification for its environmental management practices. The Wolfschlugen plant manufactures Thomson’s ball screws, trapezoidal screws and worm gear screw jacks. Completing the stringent EN ISO 14001:2015 compliance process verifies the company’s commitment to and capabilities for optimising environmental management processes.

“We are proud to have achieved this important certification. It shows that we can maintain high product quality standards with minimal impact on the environment. Our customers can be confident that they are buying from a company that is committed to environmental sustainability and to being a responsible link in their supply chain,” said Wolfgang Becker, Managing Director at Thomson Neff Industries GmbH.

EN ISO 14001, which is advanced by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), is the globally recognized standard for environmental management systems (EMSs). It provides a framework for formulating and maintaining EMSs to control environmental aspects of their operations, minimize impact and ensure legal compliance. Following this framework, ISO certification teams audited the Wolfschlugen plant’s systems for reducing energy consumption, managing hazardous waste, conserving water and other sustainability-related practices.

The resulting EN ISO 14001:2015 certification complements the Wolfschlugen plant’s previously achieved EN ISO 9001:2015 accreditation, which relies on the same process of internal auditing, controls and documentation for quality management systems as EN ISO 14001 uses for certifying environmental systems.

“Having both ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 shows that we have clear visibility and control over manufacturing to external and internal requirements and helps assure our customers that we are implementing all-encompassing quality and environmental management,” Becker added.
