Thermal transfer ribbon company raises the bar with investment in UK and Europe

The Covid-19 pandemic and supply chain issues are still afflicting parts of the economy, notably food, logistics and other sectors. To combat the challenges its customers face, Thermal Transfer Solutions (TTS) is investing around £225,000 in its Redditch manufacturing facility over the next 12 months. This will boost annual converting capacity to in excess of 95 million square metres and help to reduce the amount of waste going to landfill.

No shipping delays and no import tariffs might seem like the perfect panacea for some manufacturers in the UK., but this is exactly what TTS is providing customers in the form of a one-stop shop for UK-manufactured thermal transfer ribbons. Customers can easily source ribbons for their thermal printers and print and apply systems right here on their doorstep – and they’ll receive them the next day.

As well as having huge volumes of ribbons in stock for next day delivery, the UK’s leading specialist supplier of thermal transfer ribbons has all of the raw materials needed on site to convert goods on request. Very few competitors provide a converting service in the UK. But TTS does, using its state-of-the-art slitting machinery and production methods.

TTS Managing Director Jason Asser is also keen to point out that the company has recently strengthened its foothold in Europe. He explained: “Our Dutch distribution hub Thermal Transfer Solutions BV moved to a new, larger warehouse in Hoorn, Netherlands in June 2021, allowing us to dramatically expand our range of ribbons available for next day delivery to the Netherlands, Belgium and surrounding countries.”

Agreeing future partnerships with other experts in thermal transfer technology will see the company further expand its horizons with new opportunities for its own brand of high-performance ribbons. Free samples are sent on request and TTS has achieved its aim of stocking more thermal transfer ribbons in the UK for immediate delivery than anyone else.

This huge advantage in stock holding capability and engineering expertise allows TTS to handle any specialist applications too. Working with sister company Thermal Printer Solutions (TPS), which provides and services label printers, rewinders, software and applicators, makes for a one-stop shop for all labelling requirements.

The company has reported a spike in business during the pandemic. The firm has seen sales surge by 24% year-on-year as demand for automated labelling solutions grew in the run-up to Natasha’s Law, as well as manufacturers turning to automation to boost productivity.

Explaining the company’s mission to become the UK’s largest integrated supplier of all label printing, product coding and label automation technologies, Jason added: “Company profits are increasing as our volumes grow. Our business model is to provide a ‘one-stop shop for all’ with a complete range of products that are associated with thermal transfer printing and the quick and easy printing and application of labels.”

TTS can supply a ribbon for every type of thermal transfer printer on the market. It has partners and products from around the world, including Todaytec, a global manufacturer of thermal transfer ribbons for all major industrial printers.
