Russells Makes History With Lothian Tile

Leading pitched roof tile manufacturer, Russell Roof Tiles has supported award-winning building company, Cameron Homes with one of its largest developments to date.

Cameron Home’s Lawnswood development forms part of the £5m Branston Lock scheme, which is being delivered collaboratively by Staffordshire County Council and a number of building developers. On competition, it will provide 2,500 new homes, a range of community facilities and a 50-acre employment site will have been built across 400 acres.

The Lawnswood development will provide 70 new four and five-bedroom detached homes. Work on the homes are expected to finish in 2021.

Russell Roof Tiles was keen to support such a pivotal development that will bring much-needed housing to its local area. Having worked with Cameron Homes for over three years, it was the manufacturer’s proven track record in supplying quality products that saw them chosen to provide pitched roof tiles for the project.

Russell Roof Tiles supplied 150,000 of its pitched roof Lothian tiles in Slate Grey and Peat Brown. Lothian tiles form part of Russell Roof Tiles’ Natural Range of products – an expanding selection of thinner leading-edge interlocking concrete tiles that have the appearance of natural slate, stone and clay, whilst offering the long-lasting attributes of a concrete interlocking roof tile.

The thinner leading-edge design also features a mock joint and hidden interlock, helping to speed up installation, making it faster and easier for developers and builders. When laid, the tile gives the appearance of a small format tile with the commercial benefits of a larger format tile.

Russell Roof Tiles is a pioneering independent roof tile manufacturer, providing pitched roofing solutions for leading UK house builders and high-profile social housing projects, where sustainability and eco-credentials are of the utmost priority.

James Pendleton, Regional Sales Director at Russell Roof Tiles said: “The Branston Lock scheme has been a pivotal development taking place since 2013. With two of our sites in Burton, minutes from the development, we have recognised the significance and importance that the scheme will bring to our local area.

“Having built a strong relationship with Cameron Homes over the last three years, we were delighted to support the team once again on one of their larger developments by providing high quality, sustainable products.”

Craig Floyd, Head Buyer at Cameron Homes said: “Our Lawnswood development was a launch pad for a selection of new ‘Standard Portfolio’ house types for Cameron Homes. Material selection was a key part in ensuring we showcased them effectively.

“Having established a good working relationship with Russell Roof Tiles over recent years and situated in the heart of our operating area, Cameron Homes has come to recognise the range of products that they have available and their individual applications. The ‘Lothian’ offered us the perfect balance of aesthetics and cost for the Lawnswood project, enabling us to create a rural feel and present our homes in a very desirable manner.”
