The Manufacturing Technology Centre’s events and conferencing division – MTC Events – has received recognition from three organisations as a Covid-safe events and meeting venue.

MTC Events is a stand-alone business within the MTC, situated on Ansty Park near Coventry. The division, based in the MTC’s Advanced Manufacturing Training Centre, hosts events for major manufacturers and business organisations.

Now, following rigorous audits and reviews of Covid processes, the division has received AIM Secure accreditation from the Meetings Industry Association, Safe, Clean and Legal regulated accreditation from Quality in Tourism and an official “We’re Good to Go” mark from Visit Britain.

The organisations scrutinised MTC Events’ attention to cleanliness, hygiene, Covid-19 protocols, site safety, well-being measures and communication.

MTC Events has taken a wide range of steps to keep visitors and delegates safe including an Events app that checks and records the Covid status of delegates and requests a negative lateral flow test and a health declaration before attendance, bipolar ionisation equipment in the ventilation system which targets bacteria, an enhanced cleaning regime including electrostatic spraying, air purifiers in meeting rooms and the issue of delegate hygiene packs.

MTC group marketing director Richard Watkins said, “The safety of our visitors and colleagues is our priority. Over the last 18 months or so we have implemented a significant number of measures that support our aim to be among the safest conference and event venues in the Midlands. We are thrilled to have been awarded these three accreditations in recognition of our commitment to safety and wellbeing, which are testament to our teams’ dedication to providing a safe environment for meetings and events.”

The MTC was founded by the University of Birmingham, Loughborough University, the University of Nottingham and TWI Ltd. The MTC’s industrial members include some of the UK’s major global manufacturers.

The MTC aims to provide a competitive environment to bridge the gap between university-based research and the development of innovative manufacturing solutions, in line with the Government’s manufacturing strategy. The MTC is part of the High Value Manufacturing Catapult, supported by Innovate UK.
