Amtek makes six figure investment to scale up post lockdown

Amtek Precision Engineers, manufacturers of high-quality plastic injection mould tools and precision CNC machined components, has recently signed a six figure deal with ECI Software Solutions to deploy its M1 ERP software.

The move will streamline Amtek’s operation and facilitate business growth, building on successful operational adaptations made during lockdown to cater for sudden changes in customer requirements.

Amtek manufactures multi-cavity plastic injection mould tools for the medical, pharmaceutical and caps and closure industries.

The surge in demand for vital PPE equipment across health and social care, combined with concerns around the security of the European supply chain, prompted a number of UK based companies to approach Amtek during the first half of lockdown.

Now occupying a state-of-the-art 12,000sq/ft double level facility in Totnes, Devon and having recently restructured, the introduction of a specialist software system will help the business scale up and meet a change in demand.

Matt Jones, Director at Amtek said:

“The implementation of ECI’s M1 software is a really exciting development for the company. We needed an ERP solution that could integrate critical business processes, scale up as our operation continued to expand and help boost our overall profitability.

“Owing to its strong reputation across the manufacturing industry, and the fact that it is designed specifically for small and medium-sized manufacturers, this solution is fundamental to our growth plans.

“We believe our core offering – caps and closures – is already beginning to bounce back, and despite having only recently implemented the software, we can already see the benefits it’ll bring as the business expands.”

Robert Lowe, Sales Account Manager at ECI said:

“Having been in discussion with the team at Amtek since 2018, I’m pleased they’re now up and running with the M1 software – especially as they’re navigating their way through a period of change due to the impact of Covid-19.

“One of the challenges we faced was how to deliver our implementation training to the required standard throughout lockdown. Luckily, the Amtek team were all able to attend virtual training sessions either in groups or one to one, and I’m confident the whole team can enjoy the benefits an ERP such as M1 can offer.”
