As part of its investment in future growth and expansion, manufacturer of the Tyron Multiband, Tyron Runflat has welcomed Robert Shaw as a new Finance Director to its existing three-strong board.
Stepping into a new role for the business, Robert’s career at Tyron spans 20 years and signifies a key part of the business’s investment plans to support the innovation, growth and development of its service offering.
Robert’s promotion comes at a critical time for the manufacturing sector as it faces a number of operational hurdles. From a critical skilled labour shortage, persistent supply chain vulnerabilities and high inflationary costs to rigorous demands for digital transformation, the time is now for resilience and innovation.
Robert Shaw commented: “I have a seasoned history in accounting and finance, making my latest promotion to the role of Director a natural step. Having started my accounting career at Derby County Football Club, I have continued to progress ever since. Born and raised in Derby and educated in Loughborough, it’s always been important to me that I’m part of an organisation that provides opportunity, personal development routes and invests in the next generation. When I originally joined Tyron, I was an Accounts Clerk, but over the past two decades I have had the opportunity to learn, develop and grow within the business.”
Known for its industry-leading tyre safety solutions, Tyron is the inventor of the world’s only multi-piece rubber Runflat system, designed to keep vehicles on the road and reduce tyre-related accidents.
Robert added, “As I get embedded into my new position, I am focusing on our efficiency and operational processes to ensure we are working as seamlessly as possible. We’re entering a new era of business as we look to solidify our market position and diversify our product ranges, making this the perfect time to focus on our business approach. My objectives are to boost efficiencies, grow our team of experts, develop our current team and support a robust framework to ensure the longevity of our business.
“I’ve always had a real passion for innovation, which is why I’m proud to now be part of the Board of Directors for Tyron Runflat as we drive our commitment to life-saving tyre safety.”
Over the past year, Tyron has introduced several bold product developments – including the world’s lightest rubber Runflat and a discreet defence wheel, leading the way for tyre safety across its core sectors in defence, emergency services, civilian and commercial vehicles.
Peter Simson, Director at Tyron Runflat, commented: “We’re thrilled to have promoted Robert with his extensive financial knowledge and integrity to join our Board of Directors.
“Robert is going to be central in the next phase of our business expansion as his appointment marks an investment in the next generation of Tyron. The history of the Tyron Multiband dates back to The Troubles in Northern Ireland in the 1970s. Since then, we’ve made it our mission to provide our customers with the life-saving safety systems they require, which is why it’s integral that the right people are in the right roles.
“Having watched Robert grow into this role, we’re proud to be investing in our own team and filling positions with people that have a commitment to our business ethos and core values.”
Robert added, “I’m excited for this next chapter - progressing my career at Tyron and making my mark with additional responsibility and ownership. Across all industries, businesses are navigating a challenging economic time, but we must continue to provide a reliable service for the industries that need our systems most.”
