Greyhound Box collaborates with Imageco for CAD area redesign

Found on the mezzanine of their Beza Road factory, the brightly refurbished CAD area will inspire creativity within Greyhound Box’s design team.

Found on the mezzanine of their Beza Road factory, the brightly refurbished CAD area will inspire creativity within Greyhound Box’s design team. It also gives the manufacturer a dedicated space to welcome and collaborate with clients on their bespoke packaging concepts.

The nature of CAD technology means Greyhound Box’s packaging solutions can be brought to life in real-time, in front of clients’ eyes. This will speed up the time it takes for design team to test, tweak, and finalise custom boxes and fitments – and reduce order lead time for clients.

Head of Design and Marketing at Greyhound Box, Matthew Kay, explains the core benefits of the space:

“Our desire to be able to demonstrate and adapt packaging concepts in front of our clients was the main draw for refurbishing the CAD area. The technology is celebrated for producing accurate prototypes at speed, and we’re proud that we now have a welcoming space to do this in the presence of our clients.”
When design time of a bespoke box is reduced, manufacturing of the end packaging solution can begin sooner. Matthew goes onto say: “When we can collaborate with our clients from the comfort of the CAD area, we’re empowered to produce packages that meet the brief from the get-go, and can then be manufactured at scale.”

As well as increasing the efficiency of the design process, the CAD area is also a focal point in its own right. Greyhound Box’s Beza Road neighbour, large format print specialist, Imageco, designed and installed the wallpaper to surround the CAD table. Sustainability is integral to both Leeds businesses, with the finished walls reflecting their joint commitment to the environment through forestry graphics and materials choice.

Nathan Swinson-Bullough, Imageco’s Managing Director, says: “Any opportunity to collaborate with Greyhound Box is always welcomed with open arms. We’re chuffed with how the wallpaper has helped transform the CAD area into an inviting and inspiring design space in a way that doesn’t cost the environment – one of Greyhound Box’s values. Eco Wall Canvas (UFabrik Textile Eco) is predominantly made from recycled plastic bottles, so was the obvious wallpaper of choice for this install.”

It took only three days for Imageco to complete the design and installation, meaning the CAD table was back in use with minimal disruption to the factory’s operations. Louise O’Brien, Managing Director at Greyhound Box, says:

“Partnering with local businesses whose values align with ours is incredibly important to us. Our good friends, Imageco, have brought our vision of an interactive and energising CAD space to life with materials that complement our sustainable ethos. We’re looking forward to welcoming the first clients to our new, bright, and inviting CAD space, and we’re keen to see the types of packaging concepts that evolve.”
