With its range of high-speed roller doors installed in multiple industrial premises across the UK, Union provides a dedicated preventative maintenance services as well as emergency repair response capabilities.

During the COVID19 emergency when pressure is on the food industry, particularly companies involved in temperature-controlled warehousing, to meet supply requirements, Union Industries has deployed 16 field-based service teams to support the sector.

It has placed its teams on stand-by, ready for immediate deployment to assist companies in this critical industry with any issues that may impact on the productivity of their operations and the availability of stock.

Examples of its fast response since the start of the outbreak include Union Industries supporting a food distribution centre, which had experienced damage to one of its doors. Union Industries’ service team was on site within hours with the parts to complete and ensure the door was back in operation.

Alongside its commitment to supporting the operations of the food sector is Union Industries’ dedication to the health and wellbeing of its colleagues. It is following the strict government guidelines and have put in place additional procedures.

To ensure social distancing of its pairs of service engineers, Union Industries has hired a fleet of cars to be used alongside its works vehicles. One service engineer travels to customer sites in a works van, which is equipped with spare and tools, while their colleague travels in a hire car.

Andrew Lane, Managing Director of Union Industries, said:

“The importance and the pressure on food distribution is incredible, so we are working very hard to be a real frontline supplier to our important customers and maintaining the operation of these facilities, that keeps food on the shelves at supermarkets and ultimately keeps the country fed.

“We have ensured our Service Engineers can be rapidly deployed throughout the country to deliver essential repairs and maintenance while adhering to the health guidance from the government. Our people are highly experienced when operating on sites with strict health and safety restrictions, which is even more important in the current situation, and are dedicated to ensuring that the effectiveness of our customers’ operations remain at the highest levels.”
