Manufacturing Technology Centre Looks To Recruit Engineers Of The Future.

Open evening will showcase Advanced Manufacturing Training Centre

The pioneering Manufacturing Technology Centre in Coventry is inviting the engineers of the future to look at apprenticeship opportunities available in its Advanced Manufacturing Training Centre, as it looks to recruit nearly 100 new apprentices this year.

The AMTC, on the MTC campus at Ansty Park, is making a significant contribution towards solving the skills shortages in manufacturing. The centre plans to recruit 96 apprentices to start in September. Now the AMTC is holding an apprentice open evening later this month to provide potential trainees with an insight into the centre’s apprenticeship programme and its plans to develop the next generation of engineers.

The open event will be held on Thursday, May 16 between 5pm and 7.30pm, and pupils, parents, careers advisors, teachers and college staff are all welcome. Anyone interested should register at https://the-amtc.co.uk/apprenticeships/open-evenings/

The AMTC is a flagship facility for the advanced apprenticeship programme. As well as basic engineering skills, the apprentices learn the latest technology in areas such as intelligent automation, metrology and advanced manufacture. They will be able to test and develop their skills with partner employers.

Paul Rowlett, managing director of the AMTC said, "Our purpose is to seed the manufacturing sector with a pipeline of capable engineering technicians. Employers can maximise their levy spend with our programmes, giving a genuine return on investment and business impact while ensuring they become increasingly globally competitive. The open evening gives potential apprentices the chance to learn everything they need about our programmes."

The MTC was founded by the University of Birmingham, Loughborough University, the University of Nottingham and TWI Ltd. The MTC’s industrial members include some of the UK’s major global manufacturers.

The MTC aims to provide a competitive environment to bridge the gap between university-based research and the development of innovative manufacturing solutions, in line with the Government’s manufacturing strategy. The MTC is part the High Value Manufacturing Catapult, supported by Innovate UK.
